Poor Turnout

Held my first death cafe, one person attended. I'm disappointed! What do a I need to do to get more bums on seats? I put up about 15 posters, at various venues and advertised in local free media, print and radio. Would including my name and phone number help? I didn't for the first lot of publicity, figuring I didn't want the hassle and that the me isn't important.
Thanks in advance for ideas and suggestions

I am having my first Death Cafe next week and am relying mainly on word of mouth, FB and Meetup to attract participants. So far, several people have registered but the real test is how many come next week.

I work at a library and had my first DC here. We do a lot of advertising for our programs but find that word of mouth is the best publicity. 4 -5 of my attendees learned of my event from my supervisor, who hosts a Socrates Cafe.
Can any of your friends, co-workers, or other acquaintances spread the word for you?

I manage a lot of events and I will say that direct contact is the best recruitment tool, especially for small groups. Yes, post it publicly and get the word out. And send personalized emails to people, with a personal message about why you think they would get something out of the evening. Phone calls too, after the emails go out. Figure for every 20 people you invite, 2 will come. Send a blanket reminder to everyone 24 to 48 hours before.
