About this Death Cafe
As cemetery practioners, we have a very clear understanding, bourne out of first hand experience, of how our culture has made discussing death taboo. We have both experienced the dropped jaw syndrome whenever we inform new acquaintances of our profession. We hope we can provide an environment that will dispel the mainstream belief that death is creepy.
About Cindy Maril and Pete Tunnat
Cindy Maril and Pete Tunnat are both Family Service Advisors at Arlington Memorial Gardens of Cincinnati, Ohio. They have both experienced personal losses and, as Advisors, they are in daily contact with people who are either confronting death or have experienced the loss of a loved-one. Yet, it is these same experiences that haave informed them on just how uterly uncomfortable most people are thinking about death, let alone discussing it. They believe that death cafe provides a wonderful outlet to begin the healthy process of thinking about and processing the concept of death in a safe, non-judgmental manner.
