About this Death Cafe

Join us for the latest in our series of Death Cafe events at the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts.
At a Death Cafe people gather to drink tea, eat cake and discuss death. Our aim is to increase awareness of death with a view to helping people make the most of their (finite) lives.
This Death Cafe is part of a programme of events in connection with artist Julian Stair and his research for his upcoming exhibition ‘Art, Death and the Afterlife’ at the Sainsbury Centre which runs from 18th March - 17th September 2023.
There will be a further Death Cafe event on May 4th.
As with all Death Cafes, this is a free event but refreshments will be available to buy at the Modern Life Café. For those who might find this a barrier to attending, we will be happy to provide a cuppa free of charge.

About Alex Watson and Liz Ballard

Alex is a soul midwife and end of life doula in training. She works as a carer for the elderly and on the palliative care ward at the N&N with the Anne Robson trust Butterflies. She came to this career after a long and varied work life all over Europe in everything from English teaching to drag cabaret! After feeling the need to find a more spiritual purpose and meaning to her life she discovered soul midwifery and is now dedicating herself to offering loving support to those coming to the end of their lives.
