About this Death Cafe

This commitment to helping others has inspired me to host a Death Cafe. I want to create a space where people can feel comfortable discussing death without pressure or discomfort. Partnering with Cafe Quetzal in Topeka, KS, I'm excited to provide a cozy, informal setting for these meaningful conversations. Let's come together to share stories, ask questions, and explore our thoughts on death over coffee.

About Emily Howell

Hi everyone, I'm Emily Howell, and I'm excited to share a bit about myself and my journey. As the Advance Planning Specialist at Dove Cremations and Funerals in Topeka, Kansas, I have dedicated over three years to helping families navigate their most challenging times. My role allows me to provide compassionate guidance to individuals and their loved ones, helping them pre-plan their funerals and ensure their wishes are respected, whether they choose traditional burial or cremation.

My passion for supporting others in these crucial moments has brought peace of mind to countless families, relieving them of undue stress by documenting their wishes and discussing financial matters. This dedication to my community is a reflection of my intrinsic desire to help people.

Beyond my professional life, I am a devoted working mother to two wonderful daughters. My eldest recently graduated from high school, and my youngest is a talented 7th grader who loves playing percussion in her school's band. Balancing my career with the joys and responsibilities of raising my daughters is a rewarding challenge that I embrace every day.

I grew up in Lawrence, Kansas, and spent about a decade in Colorado, including a memorable two-year duty station in Italy. These experiences have shaped who I am today. At home, I find solace and joy in the companionship of my beloved dogs, who are an integral part of my life.

My work is driven by a firm belief in the importance of pre-planning and taking care of others as they age. This philosophy aligns perfectly with my involvement in the group "Navigating Life's Final Milestones," where I act as a dedicated coach, always ready to offer support and guidance when it's needed most.

Join me at Death Cafe, where we can come together to share stories, ask questions, and explore our thoughts on death in a relaxed and informal environment. Let's have meaningful conversations over coffee and cake, and connect on this important topic
