About this Death Cafe
Too many of us carry unspoken fears about death—fears we struggle to share with our friends or family. This silence can lead to feelings of isolation and anxiety, making it even more challenging to navigate the complexities of life and mortality.
That’s where a death café comes in. It is a safe and welcoming space for us to explore our feelings and thoughts surrounding death. Here, we have the opportunity to express our fears, curiosities, and reflections in a supportive environment. This experience can empower you to share these important topics with those closest to you, fostering deeper connections and understanding.
We gather in small groups to ensure an intimate and comfortable atmosphere. Each table has a facilitator who guides the conversation, ensuring everyone has their turn to speak and that discussions run smoothly. This structure helps create a respectful space where all voices are heard, allowing participants to share openly without judgement.
I would like to remind you that the café on site does not open until 5pm, so please bring a hot drink if you require one. Additionally, cakes to share would be much appreciated, as they can help create a warm and inviting environment for discussion and connection.

**Emily Engel** -
Emily co-founded West London Death Café six years ago after becoming involved in working with individuals and their loved ones who are facing death. She recognised a profound need for community spaces where people could come together to discuss their fears, hopes, and experiences related to death. She has recently stepped away from the running the West London Death Café but promises to join us whenever she can.
