About this Death Cafe

We're running a Death Cafe to give people an opportunity to talk about death.  Are you scared of death?  Great, let's talk about that.  Are you intrigued by death?  Great, let's talk about that.  Do you have, what others might call, a "morbid" fascination with death?  Great, let's talk about that!  There is no agenda at a Death Cafe.  All voices are welcome.  There will likely be laughter and there might be tears.  But there will definitely be cake!  Come join us!

About Kelli Barr-Lyles & Kristina Kruzan

Kelli is a birth and death doula and a childbirth educator as well as a counselor (with a specialty in grief) and a gerontologist. But mostly she's a mom and wife and daughter who lost her mother in 2009 and feels that death tapped her on the shoulder and invited her into its world. She believes one of the reasons she is on this earth is to get people talking about death.

Kristina is a birth doula serving families at life's entrance since 2002. She's always understood that Death stood in the room at every birth, and learned to converse with Death directly when her mother died in 2012. She looks forward to death midwifery work as her next pursuit. She's a wife and mom of three.
