About this Death Cafe
Death Café, presented by In Company Collective
Founded by Jon Underwood and Sue Barsky Reid in 2011, the Death Café is a tea party style gathering which encourages facilitated discussion, openness and awareness around death and dying in a supportive environment.
This event is free to attend and everyone is welcome. BSL Interpretation is available.

DaDaFest is an innovative disability arts organisation based in Liverpool, delivering a biennial Festival and other arts events to promote high quality disability & deaf arts from unique cultural perspectives. It also produces opportunities for disabled and d/Deaf people to access the arts, including training and a young people’s programme

Jon Underwood is the founder of Death Cafe.
Jon is a 43 year old white male married with 2 kids living in Hackney, East London.
Jon works on projects about death. These include:
- Death Cafe, offering group directed conversation about death over tea and cake
- Funeral Advisor with the Natural Death Centre, a 'Trip Advisor' for the funeral industry
- Find Me Help with Dying Matters, UK's most comprehensive directory of services for dying people, their families, carers and friends.
Jon is a student at Jamyang Buddhist Centre.

In Company Collective works in arts development - developing mid career artists and the arts sector. Much of the work In Company produces involves issues that are personally or politically affective and complex, frequently increasing conditions of precarity for the artists making the work. Key projects include The Sick Of The Fringe, Liz Carr’s Assisted Suicide The Musical and Le Gateau Chocolat’s Black.
