Daneil Hinshaw recently attended a Death Cafe I hosted, along with the Social Work Department, at a local hospital.  He wrote an excellent blog post about it which I think is really worth the read, including the following discussion, to which Lizzy adds.

Lawrence Death Cafe provides safe environment for discussing all things mortal

Several local residents discuss their thoughts about death at a recent meeting of the Lawrence Death Cafe at Personal Power Pilates Studio, 3115 W. Sixth St. 
 

Death is inevitable. Talking about it isn't. The Lawrence Death Cafe hopes to change that.

The group, which started meeting monthly earlier this year, aims to provide a comfortable environment for discussing mortality.

Organizers are quick to note that the death cafe is not a grief support group or in any way morbid, but rather a safe place to share your thoughts on dying, death and the afterlife — with refreshments ...

Danielle Kutcher came to experience her first Death Cafe and met some incredible people who left a great impression on her. Thanks to Gertrude SContemporary Gallery and to artist Amina McConvell from Darwin Australia for contacting me and wanting to run this death cafe.

It was on the news on ATV (a Chinese local TV station in Hong Kong). With the support from Hong Kong University, the first Death Cafe in Hong Kong was held on 14 June 2014. The main purpose is to increase awareness of death with a view to helping people make the most of their finite lives.
