Daneil Hinshaw recently attended a Death Cafe I hosted, along with the Social Work Department, at a local hospital. He wrote an excellent blog post about it which I think is really worth the read, including the following discussion, to which Lizzy adds.

Death is inevitable. Talking about it isn't. The Lawrence Death Cafe hopes to change that.
The group, which started meeting monthly earlier this year, aims to provide a comfortable environment for discussing mortality.
Organizers are quick to note that the death cafe is not a grief support group or in any way morbid, but rather a safe place to share your thoughts on dying, death and the afterlife — with refreshments ...

I wish the author had credited Jon and Lizzy as well but I thought this was a lovely article other than that omission. The journalist covers our last Marin Death Cafe and then writes poignently about her own grief journey through the death of her beloved husband.

Our local newspaper the Lawrence Journal World article June 3, 2014 by Giles Bruce is terrific! We appreciate his attendance our May, Lawrence Death Cafe and the photographs from Richard Gwen. Our next Lawrence Death Cafe will be at Signs of Life Book Store on July 12th then we move to the new Lawrence Public Library, Rm C on the second Saturday of August and September. Danielle Kutcher came to experience her first Death Cafe and met some incredible people who left a great impression on her. Thanks to Gertrude SContemporary Gallery and to artist Amina McConvell from Darwin Australia for contacting me and wanting to run this death cafe.

The First Tea Gathering for Life & Death in Hong Kong (Chinese Only)

It was on the news on ATV (a Chinese local TV station in Hong Kong). With the support from Hong Kong University, the first Death Cafe in Hong Kong was held on 14 June 2014. The main purpose is to increase awareness of death with a view to helping people make the most of their finite lives.
