Death Cafe profile for Rosie Hadden

About Rosie Hadden:
I am an End of Life Doula, poet, artist and creative facilitator who has hosted Death Cafes and other community events including grief tendering, grief circles and other activities around death dying and grief since 2000. I believe our stories are best shared. I am also part of Noone Dies Alone in Cornwall co-hosting Companionship Cafes in Cornwall. I have acted as a companion now for five years walking alongside those who are dying and their families.
What brings you to Death Cafe?
Growing up in Northern Ireland death was a much more domestic affair with bodies being kept in the home with open coffins and 3 days of flowing visitors coming and going paying their respects talking drinking endless cups of tea and sharing endless plates of sandwiches and cakes. The concept of a Death Cafe for me just feels like an easy extension of this early experience. It's time to talk.
What would you like your legacy to be?
To have been a kind compassionate person.
Thoughts for sharing:
After I sat with my father as he died I made a decision to do one thing every day that gave me pleasure. This was the gift of his death. I also inherited his basket making tools and began to make baskets as a way of carrying on my conversations with him.
