About Paige Lewis:
I work in end-of-life care, and volunteer doing bereavement phone calls for a hospice center. I have enjoyed starting the Seattle and East Side of Lake Washington chapters of Death Cafe.
What brings you to Death Cafe?
I want to discuss death and dying with others similarly inclined. It surprises me how few people have end-of-life talks with their loved ones. I guess I want to raise the awareness a bit.
What would you like your legacy to be?
Listen and learn.
Thoughts for sharing:
"Always go to the funeral."
I read this eecently:
...my father died a quiet death from cancer. His funeral was on a Wednesday, middle of the workweek.
I had been numb for days, when for some reason, during the funeral, I turned and looked back at the folks in the church. The memory of it still takes my breath away. Thue most human, powerful and humbling thing I have ever seen was a church at three o'clock on a Wednesday full of inconvenienced people who believe in going to a funeral."

Practitioners question: DC location at funeral home
Posted by Paige Lewis on Aug. 23, 2015, 11:56 a.m.
I would like to ask those who have held groups at a funeral home or cemetery, how did that work for you?
I would ideally work with an untraditional funeral home. However, a traditional funeral home would also be educational for my group.
True story. Don't we all wish we had known him?
