About Pamela Rathbun:
My passion as a death doula is to be a companion on the path of acceptance and freedom. Accepting death wholly to live life fully. I gently guide people back to their light—on a reunion tour of themselves. With loving awareness and compassionate curiosity, we welcome the call from our younger selves for attention and healing. Love is the answer. Love is the revolution.
What brings you to Death Cafe?
Supporting my best friend and her family through the last year of her life revealed to me the depth and breadth of our collective fear of death—and how often we avoid the subject entirely. I am passionate about normalizing death as a beautiful and natural part of life.
What would you like your legacy to be?
I want my legacy to be that I lived with an open heart and open arms—that I met life, death, and everything in between with love, presence, and acceptance. That I created space for others to feel seen, held, and whole.
Thoughts for sharing:
Death is not an end but a sacred threshold—a transition that invites us into deeper presence, deeper love. It is one of life’s greatest teachers, revealing that to truly live, we must first make peace with our impermanence.
I believe that accepting death wholly allows us to live life fully. When we stop resisting death, we stop resisting life itself. Every ending carries the seed of a beginning, and love is the thread that weaves it all together.
Rituals, remembrance, and reverence for life’s cycles help us embrace the beauty of both birth and death. Grief is love stretching across time, reminding us that nothing real is ever lost. To normalize death is to normalize love—the love that remains, the love that transforms, the love that guides us home.
Love is the answer. Love is the revolution.
